A Nacogdoches man, who police say was stabbed Monday morning, remained in stable condition Tuesday, according to Kim Barton with Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
Adolfo Castro-Cardona, 58, of Nacogdoches, was arrested and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and remained in the Nacogdoches county Jail Tuesday in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
According to the police report, Cardona was in a verbal argument with the victim, Orlin Nunez, before the stabbing in the 200 block of Lenwood Drive.
"The argument began in the house, escalated in the yard and in the street where the victim was stabbed," Nacogdoches Police Sgt. Greg Sowell said.
Nunez was stabbed several times in the torso and there were several witnesses to the assault, which happened between 6:35 and 6:48 a.m., Sowell said. Cardona was arrested at the scene when police arrived.
A description of the knife used in the assault was not available Tuesday morning.
