According to information heard on the newsroom scanner, two gas wells are on fire on CR 342 off East State Hwy. 7. The situation seems to be under control, but smoke can be seen from the loop in Nacogdoches and multiple fire departments have been called to the scene.
Another three wells are threatened in the blaze, which was reported at about 3:45 p.m..

4:19 p.m. - The fire is under control at this time, but the fire departments will be on scene for quite a while cooling the tanks, according to scanner information.
4:51 p.m. - Nacogdoches County Sheriff thomas Kerss reports that the gas tank fires were contained before the fire spread to four other nearby tanks.
Melrose, Chireno and Swift/Shady Grove volunteer fire departments, as well as the City of Nacogdoches Fire Department, responded to the scene.
At this time, it is unknown what caused the fires and no injuries were reported.
