We have had plenty of experience with emergencies in our family. Dirt bike collisions, trampoline accidents, broken bones, concussions, and stitches — accidents have happened. One of the perks of having adult children is that we no longer make frantic trips to the ER — at least not for our kids.
Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chireno, will host a pastor’s installation service for the Rev. Clifford Williams at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, with the Rev. Drayton Garner of Sand Hill Baptist Church as guest speaker.
Those who truly hear the word of God are motivated to respond to it through faith. Those who come to truly know God are those who prepare their hearts to receive His will completely and unequivocally. Like the Earth, which is prepared to receive the sower’s seed in order that it might produce fruit, prepared hearts are ready to receive whatever God has written that spiritual fruit might mature to the honor and praise of the God of heaven. To those with prepared hearts, the case for God is solidly confirmed and becomes the firm foundation for all their thoughts and actions.

As a mom, the holiday I looked forward to the most was spring break. Forget that it often coincides with the last cold snap of the year. Neither rain nor snow could diminish the promise brought by this annual tradition of getting out of our routine and being reminded that indeed, spring was on its way. We just had to hold on a little longer.
In an effort to stay out of the cold weather, I busied myself with indoor tasks that have long been ignored. Foremost among them was organizing my home office that long ago became so overwhelmed with clutter that I moved my computer to another room and began new stacks in a temporary workspace. The cold weather and my husband’s not-so-subtle hints that he would like me to move my flotsam and jetsam back to my office, prompted my resolve to tackle the mess.
Bonita United Methodist Church will host several upcoming events:
Twenty years ago I had lots of charismatic experiences. I spoke in tongues almost every day (still do, just not as much). I prayed for the sick with amazing results and witnessed many healings, physical and otherwise, some of which were simply unexplainable. I truly believed God was guiding me in remarkably detailed ways. For me, the Book of Acts, with all its miracles, was the most relevant book in the Bible. But, while I still believe most of those things and maintain a valued friendship with former Pentecostal-charismatic colleagues, today I have to confess, I am not as awed by the sensational as I once was. I think I may have overdosed on the dazzling. I know my faith works; I no longer need visible proof. Besides, in my lexicon, signs and wonders are for pre-believers, “signs confirm” the legitimacy of the Christian message. They were never meant to be a weekend miracle show for believers’ entertainment.
