The current case this week is the daily operation of Love INC. God is moving in a mighty way in our community, and there is a renewed energy at Love INC. We noticed it with ‘Chair’ished Blessings which introduced many new people to Love INC, and the momentum has grown with the Adopt A Building program and other ministries. The staff is urged to serve at a deeper level, really getting to know our applicants and provide services while we also show that we are the hands and feet of Jesus. However, we need more volunteers to help us do His work.
The simplicity of gospel thought and its message has always been a source of comfort and hope to those obedient souls seeking their God. The God of Heaven who possesses, not just great power, but all power, and has not just a lot, but all knowledge, has communicated fundamentally to those who are listening. The fact that He wants to reach His creation is a testament to the great love that motivates such an effort.
Just when I do not think I can be surprised, my heart gets blown up! The Home Team visited a 43-year-old woman, with remarkable injuries, who lives alone, no income, no support system, lives in a half-built home in the woods that is open to the elements, has no car and could not drive if she had one. The single lady had a professional job and was injured in a car accident. The doctors turned her down to file for disability as they claimed that her injuries would not be permanent with extensive therapy. She has no insurance by the way, cannot pay for therapy, nor could she get to an outpatient facility to receive therapy. She has reached out to every agency for help including Love INC. Our Home Team made a visit this week and found the conditions she was living in extremely devastating. This very soft-spoken lady was grateful someone had come and made no demands of us. She simply asked us to look around and whatever we thought we could help with would be appreciated. The Home Team came back to the office and reported that this situation was an emergency.
“God’s Son did not die to make us healthier, wealthier, and happier in the here and now. He died to redeem us from the sin that is in our hearts and to give us eternal life. God gives us help, but He does not plan to fix this world. What He plans to fix is us — and then bring us to live where He is. As for this world, God plans to destroy it.” (Gary Henry)
One consistent duty every Christian owes the other is to exhort one another in their mutual belief in God and the faithful practice of the Christian religion. According to Vines Expository Dictionary, the term “exhort” means: to call on or entreat; to admonish; to urge one to pursue some future course of conduct. God’s Case calls upon the faithful to this end: “but exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,’ lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Hebrews 3:13).
“.. if anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
We have an update on our family in the Fire and Rescue house. They have found a new place and are relocating this weekend. We will help them with furniture and other necessities as needed. We are very proud to have worked with this family during their crisis.
The fundamental and troubling issues facing our country and the world today are the result of a departure from God. Such a departure is the inevitable consequence of denial or rebellion. Some deny the existence of God while others, though they may accept the concept of God, are unwilling to place themselves in submission to His stated will. Such a situation is no surprise to Bible students. The Bible message states that such times are to be expected: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise they became fools,…” (Romans 1:21-22). Society’s ship of fools, piloted in the main by those who deny God or who stand in rebellion to Him as the only source of authority for destination or course, faces rough seas ahead.
If you missed our CHAIRished Blessings event, you missed a wonderful experience. Over 500 people were in attendance. There was laughter, there was food, there was great music, and there were some of the most unusual and unique furniture and accessories on display! Oh, and people were having fun bidding during the silent auction. There may have been a little bit of “festive bidding wars” going on as there were folks who were passionate about some of the unique items. Overall the event was a huge success! You raised $40,000 for Love INC. We are so grateful to this community for showing up to the event and to our remarkable committee for all the hard work and effort organizing the event.
