Hospital reduces staff by 40 positions

Finances of rural clinics to be closely evaluated

Posted: Saturday, January 7, 2012 8:21 pm | Updated: 2:25 pm, Tue Jun 4, 2013.

In an effort to "right-size" the number of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital employees based on patient volume, some staff reductions - in the neighborhood of 40 positions - have taken place in recent weeks at Memorial, said Jane Ann Bridges, chief financial officer.

Ok first the increase of jobs has not been locally at all. We are not talking Nation wide but here it is not any better. The people who have been fired/ laid off were care givers not just support staff and non essentials.

Cutting rural clinics is not the answer. It all lays in the management staff salaries. They should try to live on the normal pay check for this area.

I stated this last month and looked what happened. Firing and layoffs have now occurred. Maybe some of the upper management staff should cut back their salaries and pay raises and not layoff so many smaller under paid as it is staff. Many companies including fortune 500 compnaies do this. Wow what a concept. I know the upper levels make some of the highest paid salaries in the county. Definetley needs evaluation of the upper management salaries. Before cutting lower end staff.

Conservatives on this page can't stand Americans finding new jobs and the US economy improving each month
These are the same people who told us years ago that Obama will ban all full size pickup trucks, and Obama will send US marshals house to house to get your handguns.

Who was it who said "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt!" LOL

Obama has said he thinks drawing welfare and unemployment is the same as having a job. He going to get to find out about not having a job come November. Shortly after that our economy will get going again. Even GM ( aka 'government motors' ) will start selling cars again. Remember GTFO 2012!

Last week jobs Numbers were the best in three years, 200 thousands new jobs created in December. Also Ford reported the best car/truck sales in three years.
President Obama and his team deserve our support and vote in November.

A big part of "obamacare" is lower medical costs, this includes laying off some unnecessary staff and passing the savings to customers.

OBAMACARE has been choking the economy sine the first day it passed. This is just another effect and you'll see more when it fully kicks in.

The lay offs hurt too many. All should attend hospital board meetings and see where the excesses are. Perhaps administration needs to tke salary cuts and staffing needs to be left alone.

@shipchanneltrash- "Obamacare" doesn't start until 2014. The problem the hospital has is too many employees and not enough patients. One could argue that fewer are seeking medical treatment because of their lack of insurance. However these 40 jobs are probably not medically related at all just support staff and maintenance.

Well, with all the money memorial has dished out for construction,I'm not
surprised. They need to start downsizing starting with management
          first.
