Grand jury indicts on multiple assault cases

Posted: Friday, July 11, 2008 1:00 am | Updated: 2:17 pm, Tue Jun 4, 2013.

A Nacogdoches County grand jury handed up indictments for a man who committed assault on two different days and for a man who used a weapon to rob someone. District Attorney Stephanie Stephens said Edmund Jarome Griffin of Nacogdoches chased a man with a hatchet one day and attacked a woman in a car with a board — breaking the windows of car — on a different day. A woman with Griffin during the first attack, Lorine Caraway, of Nacogdoches, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, because she gave Griffin the hatchet to use. Caraway was also a passenger in the car when Edmund attacked a woman with the board, Stephens said. Griffin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance. An indictment was also handed up for Caraway. In another case, an indictment was returned for Antonio Laterron Jenkins of Nacogdoches. Jenkins was charged with aggravated robbery after he took a man's cell phone and sunglasses at knife point, Stephens said. ——— The grand jury also handed up the following indictments: Stephanie Lynette Diggles, San Augustine, aggravated assault.
