Burglary, 570 block of CR 484. A homeowner called deputies to report an intruder found hiding in a closet. “He stated the subject was being held at their residence until deputies’ arrival.” An arrest was made.

Deadly conduct, 700 block of Ridgewood Dr. A caller reported that someone was firing a pistol in the direction of her house. Her car was struck by a bullet, causing minor damage.

Deadly conduct, 1700 block of Clarice St. Police were called after people were reported to be firing weapons toward homes.

Assist complainant, 800 block of CR 195. Deputies responded to a disturbance where a woman reported “her husband assaulted her with a knife and left the scene. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with both parties involved and determined no offense occurred.”

Aggravated assault, 3000 block of Santa Fe Road. Police responded to a disturbance at a home where a man “had a stab wound to his leg from a knife.”

Criminal trespass, 20600 block of FM 225. Deputies responded to a Douglass home where a woman reported that her ex-husband “came to her house without her permission and wanted to talk to her.” A telephone harassment and criminal trespass warning were issued.

Animal cruelty, 1300 block of Douglass Road. Several dogs were taken to the animal shelter after officers found them “abandoned and malnourished” at a private residence.

Theft, 100 block of Marilyn St. A man called police to report his clothes were stolen from his home.

Auto burglary, 1500 block of E. Main St. A locked vehicle was burglarized.

Assault, 2600 block of University Dr. One family member reportedly pushed another at a local apartment complex.

Assault, 1100 block of SE Stallings Dr. A person charged with assaulting a family member at a local restaurant had the charge enhanced “due to an assault being reported two or more times within one year.”

Vehicle burglary, 1300 block of E. Main St. A woman whose car was burglarized at her home overnight discovered her debit card had been among the stolen items. It had been used without her consent.

Found property, 1008 Durst St. A bicycle found at a private residence was turned over to police for safekeeping.

Criminal mischief, 3100 block of N. Pecan St. A resident called police regarding “a known person not wanting to leave.” Officers arrived to find the suspect damaging property and in possession of marijuana. She was arrested.

Abandoned vehicle, Baseball park. A vehicle parked on the shoulder of the West Loop was tagged for removal.

Animal cruelty, 170 block of CR 405. A deputy sent to a report of animal cruelty found dogs that appeared to be in good health.

Abandoned vehicle, CR 484. A vehicle found in a clearing was cleared through dispatch.

Welfare check, Hwy. 259 at Hwy. 204. A passerby reported a man “on the side of the road attempting to flag down traffic. Prior to deputies arrival, however, another passerby picked up the man and gave him a ride to Cushing.”

Welfare check, 17000 block of U.S. 59 North. A man was seen walking away from a vehicle he was driving that had broken down. A responding deputy couldn’t locate the driver, but “the vehicle was left parked in the turn lane.” It was eventually towed.

Family violence, 300 block of CR 866. Deputies responded to a disturbance in Cushing and made one felony arrest.

Extra patrol request, 1500 block of CR 915. A resident owner told deputies his neighbor noticed a suspicious person in the area and believed him to be camping in the woods on his property. The suspect was identified, and a trespass warning was issued.

Unauthorized use of vehicle, 1000 block of CR 521. Deputies located a vehicle reported stolen, but were unable to find the suspect.

Arrests included: Erin Joy Barnhart, 38, burglary; John Kohl Dawson, 18, driving under the influence as a minor; Benjamin Thomas Dejean, 17, public intoxication, possession of marijuana; Adam Alexander Hernandez, 19, driving under influence as a minor; Carl David Johnson, 38, public intoxication; James Amos Johnson, 64, aggravated assault, assault family member with previous conviction; Shekinula Devvette Jones, 44, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana; Terry Wayne Phipps, 40, assault; Joshua Craig Summers, 18, driving while intoxicated; LaJuan Vandalle Washington, 34, public intoxication; Erica Sylvana Hannel, 34, of Lufkin, warrant; Sherina Lynn LeJeune, 38, failure to identify, possession of controlled substance; Jerry Paul Samford, 52, theft, burglary of habitation; and Denise Suzanne Smiley, 45, public intoxication.

JAIL POPULATION

At 10 a.m. Monday, the Nacogdoches County Jail housed 250 inmates. According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, the maximum population is 292.
