George Michael Cammack

Funeral for George Michael Cammack, 73, of Nacogdoches, will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday September 8, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Corley and Bro. Danny Simmons officiating.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Mr. Cammack died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in Nacogdoches.  He was born June 30, 1946 in Nacogdoches.

George grew up in Cathage, TX and he attended Carthage High School where he was honored to be a part of the All State choir.  He later attended Panola Jr. College where he was the president of the choir, followed by Stephen F. Austin State University.  

He met his wife Loretta in 1977 while George managed the local KFC restaurant in Nacogdoches while she was a secretary for KFC offices.  They were later married at Millard’s Crossing on April 12, 1980.  They were happily married for 39 years.

George owned and operated several restaurants before making his long-term profession as used auto dealer at EZ Auto and Cammack Cars.

George loved gardening, farming, guns, working with cows, crossword puzzles, tinkering, cooking; he also enjoyed watching cooking shows, the Godfather, and was an avid fan of Fox News, Glenn Beck, Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh.  He also was fond of playing (and winning) Rummy 500.

He answered to numerous names including “Gramps” and “Old Man” always with a huge smile and infectious laughter.

He was a faithful member and served diligently for 37 years at Northwood Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.

George is survived by his wife Loretta Cammack of Nacogdoches; son Mike Cammack of Katy, TX; daughter Cheryl and husband Danny Simmons of North Africa; brother Charles and wife Jane Cammack of Beckville, TX; grandchildren Reece Simmons, Randi Simmons Bakeer, Rachel Simmons, Rylee Simmons, Delaney Cammack, Michael Cammack, and Emerson Cammack.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Irene Cammack; and sisters Bobbie Woods, and Joyce Ann Allums.

Pallbearers will be Chris Cammack, Bruce Allums, Terry Woods, Jerry Woods, Chris Driver, Reece Simmons, Michael Cammack, and Lance Standridge.    

Donations may be made in George’s memory to the Nativity Building Fund at Northwood Baptist Church at 3224 NE Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
