Donald Wayne Johnson, Sr.

Donald Wayne Johnson, Sr. was born to Bill Harvey Johnson and Annie West Johnson on April 20, 1938 in the small community of Seed Tick. Don was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by his five brothers: Obert, Olton, Hoyet, Bill and Earl, and 3 sisters: Pauline, Ethel and Virginia. He passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019.

Don attended school in Nacogdoches, graduating with the class of 1957. He worked at Nibco for a number of years, then became a Borden’s milk distributor. In his later years, he was known for growing and selling especially good watermelons.

Don was happiest when he was with his whole family, sharing a meal. He was proud of his three sons who survive him: Donny Johnson, Jr., Ronny Johnson and Mark Johnson and his wife, Melinda. He loved his grandchildren and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. They are Nikki Johnson, Julia Whitehead and husband, Richie, Kaylee Nunes and husband, Cameron, Katherine Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and Miller Johnson. He is also survived by his former wife and close friend, Iva Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at First Church of The Nazarene at 211 Southeast Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches.
