GARRISON — Garrison’s Raven Gates had a strong match Tuesday night, recording 32 kills and 15 digs against Trinity School of Texas. But despite winning the opening set and fighting back from a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth set, the Lady Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision in the Garrison Junior High Gymnasium.
Garrison won the opening set, 25-18, but Trinity battled back with two straight wins, 25-12 and 25-14. The Lady Dogs forced the fifth set with a 25-20 win in set four, but it was Trinity that came out on top, 15-10, in the deciding set.
In addition to the strong match by Gates, Jaiyah Hodge also was a major contributor with 23 kills, 13 blocks and a dig. Lexi Johnson recorded 31 digs and 15 kills, Chloe Reneau produced 14 digs and 19 kills and Morgan Christian finished the night with 31 digs.
Carley Foster chipped in eight kills and seven digs for Garrison, Jada Caraway added five blocks, Brynn Clark produced seven digs and Keyla Lloyd finished with two digs and a pair of kills.
Garrison will have a bye on Friday, returning to action next Tuesday, Sept. 10, when the Lady Dogs host Hawkins. The junior varsity will get underway at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity starting at 5:30 p.m.
